The Shell Creek Watershed Improvement Group (SCWIG) was established in 1999 as a locally–led cadre of producers, residents, non-governmental organizations, as well as, state and federal agencies with the purpose of addressing the multi-faceted impairments of Shell Creek. The watershed experienced numerous damaging flood events and had multiple water quality concerns, including E. coli and atrazine impairments. Irrigation management is the process for determining and controlling the volume, frequency, and application rate of a homeowner’s irrigated water in a planned, efficient manner.
